Much like the Narwhal, water polo in North Idaho isn’t a myth! We have a very successful and thriving water polo club that has been practicing at the Coeur d’Alene Salvation Army Kroc Center for over 13 years. Our high school club has won the Idaho State Championship club for 11 years running! We continue to offer the same quality coaching, excellent facilities, competitive play, and passion for the sport as we move forward with our new team name – North Idaho Water Polo!
We currently have both high school men’s and women’s teams that compete against various squads in Idaho, including Boise, Twin Falls, Rigby and others during our high school season that runs from November to February. After the high school season, we continue to compete in various other tournaments, including USAWP tournaments in Oregon and Washington. We also compete in the annual National Junior Olympic Water Polo Championships in Dallas, TX, where our high school girl’s and boy’s teams hold their own in the largest water polo tournament in the US – quite an accomplishment for a small town in North Idaho! We also have a growing Master’s program, which provides an opportunity for players 18-99 to continue their passion for the sport.
All practices take place at The Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene in their indoor 25m x 25yd deep water competition pool.
If you have a player that is not yet in high school, but are considering water polo, we encourage you to check out the excellent Junior and Developmental Water Polo classes for ages 7-10 and 11-13 offered at the Coeur d’Alene Salvation Army Kroc Center, (Kroc Water Polo), which is also staffed by several members of our amazing coaching team!
